NYPD remove stolen and unregistered vehicles outside migrant shelter where shooting occurred

Following a triple shooting incident on July 29, 2024, where one woman was killed and two others injured near the migrant shelter entrance on Randall’s Island, Manhattan, NYC, the NYPD conducted an operation to remove stolen and unregistered vehicles from the shelter’s premises.

According to reports, 19 mopeds were confiscated, with one motorcycle identified as stolen. Additionally, 15 unregistered vehicles were removed from the area. This operation was carried out approximately 13 hours after the shooting incident, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. on July 29.

The motive behind the shooting was reportedly retaliation for an unreported gunpoint robbery earlier that evening. The shooter, still at large, fled the scene on a moped. The NYPD is seeking information and tips from the public to aid in their investigation.

The migrant shelter, located on Randall’s Island, provides housing for asylum seekers and has been the site of previous incidents. The NYPD’s removal of stolen vehicles aims to address concerns about safety and security in the area. 17GEN4.com
