Shamsud Din Jabbar was identified as the suspect in a terror attack in New Orleans on New Year's Day, January 1, 2025.

Video shows the moment the FBI says Shamsud Din Jabbar raced onto a packed Bourbon Street from Canal Street in a pickup truck with Texas plates and an ISIS flag.

Here are the key details based on the available information:

Identity and Background: Jabbar was a 42-year-old U.S. citizen from Texas, with a military background. He served in the U.S. Army as an administrative clerk, having been deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and honorably discharged in 2020. Additionally, he was described in some reports as a real estate agent who had previously worked for Deloitte, earning around $120,000 annually, although he had financial troubles as noted during his divorce proceedings.

The Attack: Early on New Year's Day, Jabbar drove a rented Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, killing at least 10 people and injuring over 30 others. After crashing the truck, he reportedly exited the vehicle and opened fire on police officers, leading to a shootout where he was killed. The attack is being investigated by the FBI as an act of terrorism, with an ISIS flag found on the truck's trailer hitch, prompting further investigation into possible terrorist affiliations.

Investigation Details: Apart from the ISIS flag, weapons, including a handgun and an assault rifle, and potential improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found in the vehicle and around the French Quarter. The FBI noted that they do not believe Jabbar acted alone, suggesting a broader investigation into possible accomplices or a network.
