Los Angeles, December 15, 2025 — Federal authorities announced Monday that they thwarted a "credible, imminent terrorist threat," arresting four individuals accused of plotting coordinated bombings across Los Angeles on New Year's Eve.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated that the suspects self-identified as members of a radical offshoot of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), an extremist group described as motivated by pro-Palestinian, anti-law-enforcement, anti-government, and anti-capitalist ideology. The group allegedly planned to use improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to target five separate locations in the city during the holiday celebrations.

"Their work undoubtedly saved countless lives," Patel posted on social media, praising FBI agents and partners at the Department of Justice. The four suspects were apprehended over the weekend in Lucerne Valley, a remote desert area northeast of Los Angeles, where officials believe they were preparing to test explosive devices. Each has been charged with conspiracy and possession of a destructive device, according to federal authorities.

Attorney General Pam Bondi described the disrupted plot as "massive and horrific," noting that it targeted multiple sites in Southern California, including areas in Orange County and Los Angeles. Some reports indicate the intended targets included Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and vehicles.

In a related development, a fifth individual believed to be linked to the same TILF network was arrested in New Orleans for allegedly planning a separate violent attack. The Turtle Island Liberation Front, which refers to North America by its Indigenous name "Turtle Island," has promoted anti-colonial and anti-imperialist views on social media. An associated Instagram account claims a founding chapter in Los Angeles and calls for freeing Palestine, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico from what it terms American imperialism.

Officials have not released the names of the suspects, citing the ongoing investigation. The FBI's Los Angeles field office is scheduled to hold a press conference later today for further details.

The arrests come amid heightened domestic security concerns, underscoring federal efforts to counter extremist threats ahead of major public events. Authorities emphasized that there is no ongoing danger to the public related to this plot. 17GEN4.com
