What does Vivek Ramaswamy have to say about the Trump, Musk Feud?

Washington, D.C. — June 5, 2025

Vivek Ramaswamy, the biotech entrepreneur and co-founder of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has largely avoided commenting directly on the escalating public spat between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, his former DOGE partner. The feud, marked by Musk’s explosive claim that Trump’s name appears in unreleased Jeffrey Epstein files, has dominated headlines, but Ramaswamy’s public statements and posts on X suggest he is distancing himself from the conflict, emphasizing his departure from DOGE and his broader vision for government reform instead.

Ramaswamy, who stepped down from DOGE in March 2025 after less than four months, has not addressed Musk’s specific accusation against Trump or the subsequent fallout, which saw Trump threaten to terminate Musk’s federal contracts and Musk double down with taunts on X. Instead, Ramaswamy’s most relevant comment on the matter came in late February 2025, when he appeared on Fox News to defend DOGE’s mission and the broader pursuit of efficiency under Trump and Musk. He argued that hostility toward DOGE stemmed from “irrationality” and praised both Trump and Musk for chasing a “golden age” of streamlined government, saying, “The vision of a leaner, more accountable government is what unites us.” However, this statement predates the Trump-Musk rift’s peak and does not directly tackle their personal clash.

On X, Ramaswamy has been notably restrained. In early May 2025, he posted about his decision to leave DOGE, framing it as a strategic move to focus on long-term legal and structural reforms rather than Musk’s aggressive cost-cutting approach. “The mission to shrink government is bigger than one role. I’m stepping back to fight for lasting change through law and courts, not just slashing budgets,” he wrote, without mentioning Trump or Musk by name.

During his 2024 presidential campaign, Ramaswamy endorsed Trump after dropping out, and he worked closely with Musk at DOGE, calling their partnership a chance to “SHUT IT DOWN” in a November 2024 X post. His current focus appears to be on maintaining his reputation as a conservative reformer, as evidenced by his recent X activity promoting his book Woke, Inc. and advocating for policies like mass deportation of unelected bureaucrats, a nod to his DOGE rhetoric. At a Mar-a-Lago gala in November 2024, he thanked Trump for enabling DOGE’s mission, but even then, he avoided commenting on Musk’s specific actions or Trump’s reactions.

Meanwhile, the Trump-Musk spat has overshadowed DOGE’s legacy, with Musk’s unproven Epstein files claim and Trump’s subsidy threats dominating discourse. Ramaswamy’s earlier warnings about bureaucratic resistance, as seen in his Fox News interview, seem prescient given the backlash DOGE faced, but his refusal to engage on the current conflict leaves his stance on the feud ambiguous. As the saga unfolds, Ramaswamy appears content to let Trump and Musk dominate the spotlight while he repositions himself for future influence.
