CINCINNATI, OH – August 4, 2025 – Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy took to social media platform X today to highlight growing concerns over public safety in downtown Cincinnati, announcing a town hall meeting to address the issue. In a post shared at 6:54 AM MST, Ramaswamy stated, “The harsh reality is that too many people in Greater Cincinnati feel uncomfortable at night in the downtown of their own city. That’s not right & we’re going to fix it, starting with unfiltered dialogue about the problem. Tonight at 5:30pm in the city.”

The announcement follows a recent viral incident involving a violent brawl in downtown Cincinnati, which Ramaswamy has repeatedly referenced in his campaign to criticize local leadership and advocate for stronger law enforcement policies. The event, scheduled for 5:30 PM on August 4, aims to foster open dialogue with residents, law enforcement, and city officials. Ramaswamy, a Cincinnati native, has emphasized the need for honest conversations to address urban crime, stating that “sweeping uncomfortable issues under the rug doesn’t promote social cohesion.”

The town hall, to be held at Jim & Jack’s alongside former Vice Mayor Christopher Smitherman, will be livestreamed to ensure broad accessibility. Ramaswamy’s focus on public safety comes amid a reported 53% increase in downtown Cincinnati crime through July 27, 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. His campaign has pledged to prioritize a stronger police presence and stricter enforcement of the rule of law if he is elected governor in 2026.

The event is expected to draw significant attention as Ramaswamy continues to position himself as a vocal advocate for addressing urban safety challenges, a key issue in his gubernatorial bid.
