Palm Beach, Florida – December 28, 2025

President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tomorrow at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, a high-stakes discussion expected to cover the ongoing Gaza crisis, tensions with Iran, and the volatile situation along Israel's northern border with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The meeting, confirmed by both Israeli officials and Trump's team, comes at a critical juncture as the U.S. seeks to influence the next phases of Middle East peace efforts, including potential announcements on Gaza governance and international stabilization forces in early January.

Sources close to the administration indicate that Trump may press Netanyahu on accelerating progress toward a more permanent resolution in Gaza, where U.S. aides have expressed frustration over what they perceive as deliberate delays in implementing ceasefire terms.

Netanyahu, departing for the U.S. today, is also expected to brief Trump on potential new strikes against Iranian targets, highlighting the broader regional implications of their talks.

This will mark their fifth meeting this year, underscoring the close but sometimes strained alliance between the two leaders.

The backdrop to tomorrow's summit is a precarious ceasefire in Gaza, brokered by the U.S. and implemented on October 10, 2025, which has provided a temporary halt to large-scale hostilities but remains deeply fragile.

While the agreement has allowed for limited humanitarian relief and paused round-the-clock airstrikes, UN officials have warned that it continues to be undermined by periodic violence and obstructions to aid delivery.

A separate ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, effective earlier this year, has also shown signs of strain, though the Gaza deal remains the focal point of international concern.

As of late December, the Gaza truce has endured despite challenges, but experts describe it as an "endless maze" for Palestinians, with cold weather exacerbating a humanitarian crisis that has seen over 70,000 deaths since the conflict's escalation.

Reported violations of the Gaza ceasefire have mounted steadily, with the Gaza Government Media Office documenting at least 875 breaches by Israeli forces between October 10 and December 22, including airstrikes, artillery fire, and demolitions.

In one recent incident on December 22, Israeli forces killed two Palestinians in Gaza City during an operation, further escalating tensions.

Just days later, on December 24, a blast in Gaza wounded an Israeli soldier, prompting Israel to accuse Hamas of violating the truce—though Hamas countered that the explosion resulted from unexploded Israeli ordnance.

Additional breaches include airstrikes and naval attacks on Khan Younis, as well as the demolition of buildings in eastern neighborhoods like Zeitoun and Tuffah.

Humanitarian access has been severely restricted, with Israel allowing only about 40 percent of planned aid into the enclave, deepening the crisis for displaced residents.

In Lebanon, heavy Israeli airstrikes on the town of Houla have been reported as violations of that separate agreement.

These incidents have drawn international condemnation, including from nearly 50 U.S. Democratic lawmakers who urged Trump last week to withhold assistance to Israel if the violations persist.

Protests against the breaches have erupted globally, from Stockholm to various U.S. cities, as Palestinians in Gaza mark a somber holiday season under continued restrictions. As Trump and Netanyahu convene, the outcome could shape the trajectory of Middle East stability into 2026. White House officials have signaled that major Gaza-related decisions are imminent, but with Netanyahu's government announcing plans for new settlements north of Gaza—a move seen as another potential violation—the path forward remains uncertain.
