The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requested transcripts of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance after Republican Florida Representative Randy Fine raised concerns that the show may have violated federal indecency regulations. Fine claimed the performance, delivered entirely in Spanish, was “illegal” and included expletives, urging the FCC to impose fines and review broadcast licenses.

FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez reviewed the Spanish-language transcripts obtained from Comcast’s NBC and stated, “I reviewed them carefully, and I found no violation of our rules and no justification for harassing broadcasters over a standard live performance.” Multiple reports confirm the FCC does not plan to pursue the matter further unless new evidence emerges.

Bad Bunny’s performance, historic as the first Super Bowl halftime show performed entirely in Spanish, emphasized unity, featuring a message on the stadium screen that read, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.” Independent reviews, including from the USA TODAY Network, found that explicit lyrics cited by Fine were not part of the actual broadcast, with many lines either omitted or mumbled during the live show.
