Albuquerque, NM – A 13-year-old boy has been taken into custody on murder charges following a horrific hit-and-run incident in New Mexico last year that claimed the life of a bicyclist. Authorities allege that the teen, along with two other juveniles, deliberately struck the victim with a vehicle in an attack captured on video from inside the car.

The incident, which occurred in 2024, shocked the local community after footage surfaced showing the chilling moments leading up to the collision. According to police reports, the suspects intentionally targeted the unidentified cyclist, running them down in a calculated act that ended in tragedy. The video, recorded by one of the occupants, has since become a key piece of evidence in the investigation.

Law enforcement officials confirmed the arrest of the 13-year-old on March 18, 2025, following months of investigation. The identities of the suspects, all minors, have not been released due to their ages. Details regarding the motive remain unclear, though authorities have described the act as premeditated.

“This was a senseless and violent crime,” said a spokesperson for the Albuquerque Police Department. “The evidence, including the video, paints a disturbing picture of what transpired. We are committed to ensuring justice for the victim and their family.”

The case has raised questions about juvenile crime and accountability, with prosecutors yet to announce whether the suspects will be tried as adults. The two other juveniles allegedly involved have not been named in connection with arrests at this time, though the investigation remains ongoing.

The victim’s identity has also been withheld pending notification of next of kin. Community members have expressed outrage and grief over the incident, with calls for stronger measures to address youth violence in the region. 17GEN4.com
