Boulder, CO — On June 1, 2025, authorities arrested a man identified as Mohamad Soliman in connection with a violent incident at Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Colorado, which the FBI has classified as a "targeted terror attack." The attack, which occurred near 13th and Pearl streets, left multiple victims injured, some critically, with several requiring emergency airlift to nearby hospitals for treatment.

According to Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn, the suspect was taken into custody shortly after the incident, which involved the use of Molotov cocktails thrown at participants of "Run For Their Lives," a pro-Israel event aimed at raising awareness for hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. While local police have not yet officially classified the incident as terrorism, FBI chief Kash Patel stated on X that the agency considers it a deliberate and targeted act of terror.

Witnesses reported hearing the suspect shouting slogans associated with pro-Palestine sentiment during the attack, though specific details about his statements and motivations remain under investigation. Social media posts and local accounts also noted that the suspect, allegedly disguised as a landscaper, targeted the group, resulting in severe burns to several victims, including children.

The Boulder Jewish Community reported that "an incendiary device was thrown at walkers" participating in the event, highlighting the violent nature of the assault. Multiple victims were life-flighted from the scene to receive urgent medical care, though exact numbers and the extent of injuries have not yet been fully disclosed by authorities.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the U.S., following a recent spike in antisemitic violence and other high-profile attacks, including the fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C., just over a week ago. The suspect in that case, Elias Rodriguez, reportedly shouted "Free Palestine" after the attack, according to court documents.

While some social media users and commentators have called for mass deportations in response to the Boulder incident, citing concerns about immigration and public safety, authorities have not released information about Mohamad Soliman’s background, citizenship status, or motives. The investigation remains ongoing, with the FBI and Boulder Police Department working to determine the full circumstances of the attack.

Chief Redfearn emphasized during a press conference that it is premature to draw conclusions, and the suspect’s identity and connection to the viral video of a shirtless man with Molotov cocktails have not been officially confirmed. The FBI and local law enforcement are urging the public to remain calm and avoid speculation as they continue their work.
