Tempe, Arizona – October 30, 2025  Three suspects—including the son of a prominent Maricopa County judge—were arrested following a violent group assault on a victim near the university's Tempe campus. The attack, described by authorities as a coordinated beating involving multiple assailants, has prompted a swift investigation by ASU Police and raised concerns about campus safety amid a surge in reported violent crimes.

The assault unfolded September 28th in a parking area adjacent to ASU's bustling Tempe campus, a hub for over 65,000 students. According to police reports, the victim—a student —was approached by a group of three individuals who allegedly surrounded him before launching a relentless barrage of punches and kicks. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the attackers "swarming" the defenseless young man in what prosecutors are calling a textbook case of mob violence.
