Dallas, Texas – February 13, 2026 – Authorities at Southern Methodist University (SMU) are actively searching for 21-year-old student Brianna Arango, who was reported missing Thursday afternoon, with campus police describing the situation as "a matter of concern."

According to the SMU Police Department, a family member contacted authorities around 3:30 p.m. on February 12 after Arango failed to meet them as planned. She was last seen earlier that day at approximately 12:30 p.m. near Harold Simmons Hall on the university's Dallas campus. Arango did not attend her scheduled 1:00 p.m. class, heightening worries among family and officials. In an alert posted to the university's safety blog, SMU Police urged anyone with information about Arango's whereabouts to contact them immediately. Tips can also be submitted anonymously if preferred.

While detailed physical descriptions have circulated in some reports, including that she was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue sweatpants, and carrying a beige tote bag, officials have not released an official photo or further specifics publicly at this time. The investigation remains ongoing, with no indication of foul play mentioned in initial statements, though the rapid response underscores the seriousness with which the case is being treated.

The SMU community and local residents are being asked to remain vigilant and report any relevant sightings or information. Updates are expected as the search continues.

Anyone with knowledge of Brianna Arango's location is encouraged to reach out to SMU Police without delay.
