SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Two people died after an early-morning shooting Sunday in a south Scottsdale residential neighborhood. Police are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.

Scottsdale police were called around 7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, to the area near Scottsdale and McDowell roads after reports of gunfire. Officers found two people who had been shot. Both were taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died there.

FOX 10 reported a more specific location: near North 68th Place and East Palm Lane, a residential area consistent with the broader intersection described by other outlets. Detectives and crime-scene specialists remained on scene Sunday gathering evidence.

A Scottsdale Police Department spokesperson told FOX 10 the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide. Authorities have described the shooting as isolated and said there is no ongoing threat to the community. It is not immediately clear from early reports whether a third party is being sought.

Police have not publicly released the identities, ages, or relationship of the two people involved, pending notification of family members. As of Monday evening, no further official updates on names or additional details had been widely reported.

The investigation remains active.
