MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — May 29, 2026

Turning Point USA (TPUSA) reporter Savanah Hernandez says the family members federally charged with assaulting her during an anti-ICE protest have now filed restraining orders against her in an alleged attempt to silence her reporting and public commentary on the case.

The development comes weeks after a federal grand jury indicted three members of the Ostroushko family in connection with the April 11, 2026, incident outside the Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis.

Background of the Incident

On April 11, 2026, Hernandez was covering an anti-ICE protest when she was allegedly assaulted by Chris Ostroushko, his wife DeYanna Ostroushko, and their daughter Paige Ostroushko.

According to Hernandez and video evidence she has shared, the crowd turned hostile after discovering her affiliation with Turning Point USA. She claims Paige Ostroushko backhanded her twice and punched her in the face as she tried to leave the area. Hernandez has maintained she was the victim and did not initiate any physical contact.

The FBI opened an investigation shortly after the incident. In late April 2026, a federal grand jury indicted all three family members on assault charges. They pleaded not guilty in May.

Hernandez has also filed a civil lawsuit against the family seeking damages.

Restraining Orders Filed Against Hernandez

In a significant twist, the Ostroushko family has filed three separate restraining orders against Savanah Hernandez.

  • Chris, DeYanna, and Paige Ostroushko each filed petitions accusing Hernandez of harassment, assault, and running a doxing campaign against them.

  • The petitions reportedly describe Hernandez as the aggressor and include what she calls false claims (such as incorrectly listing her height as 5'9" when she is 5'4").

  • Chris Ostroushko’s petition reportedly seeks to bar Hernandez (and even her family members) from entering the county where he lives and from the Whipple ICE Facility.

  • At least two of the restraining orders have already been granted. Hernandez must fight the third in court.

Hernandez described the orders as filled with “lies” and said they are designed to stop her from speaking publicly about the family or continuing to report in Minnesota. She noted that police have visited her home multiple times to serve the orders.

In a YouTube update posted this week, Hernandez said:

“All three of them have basically been alleging that I started a harassment and doxing campaign against them… What these restraining orders are essentially trying to do is get me to stop being able to post about anything or quite frankly step foot in Minnesota.”

She emphasized that she has never posted the family’s private addresses or phone numbers and has consistently called for the justice system to handle the case.

Latest Updates (as of May 29, 2026)

  • The restraining orders are reportedly two-year orders.

  • Hernandez has stated she will fight them in court and believes the evidence (including video) will easily disprove the family’s claims.

  • The criminal case against the Ostroushkos remains ongoing, with the family having pleaded not guilty.

  • Hernandez continues to speak publicly about the case and has expressed support for federal involvement in the prosecution.

This case has drawn significant attention in conservative media circles, with Hernandez framing the restraining orders as an attempt to weaponize the legal system against her as a journalist.
