The natives are restless for retribution in the form of reciprocal weaponization of the justice system against political opponents now that Trump is back in the Oval Office.
Joe Biden did not pardon Hillary Clinton. Did Joe Biden pardon himself?
Trump Faces MAGA Pressure to Pursue Charges Against Hillary Clinton as Biden Oil Deal Allegations Swirl
Washington, D.C. – April 15, 2025 – As President Donald Trump settles into his second term, voices within the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement are urging him to deliver on a long-standing promise: holding Hillary Clinton accountable. With no pardon issued by outgoing President Joe Biden to shield his 2016 rival, Clinton remains a prime target for Trump’s base, who view her as emblematic of entrenched political corruption. Meanwhile, fresh reports alleging Biden negotiated an oil and gas deal to benefit his son Hunter’s ties to Ukrainian energy company Burisma have reignited scrutiny over Biden’s own actions—raising questions about whether he quietly pardoned himself before leaving office.
MAGA supporters, energized by Trump’s return to power, see an opportunity to revisit grievances from the 2016 campaign, particularly Clinton’s use of a private email server while Secretary of State. “Hillary’s never faced real consequences,” said Laura Hensley, a prominent MAGA influencer with over 2 million followers on X. “Trump owes it to us to bring charges—lock her up, like he promised.” The chant, a staple of Trump’s first campaign, has resurfaced at recent rallies, with attendees waving signs demanding justice.
Trump’s allies argue that new probes—potentially into Clinton Foundation dealings or other unexamined emails—could uncover actionable evidence. “The base expects action,” said GOP strategist Mark Dunham. “It’s a loyalty test for Trump to show he’s serious about draining the swamp.”
Reports circulating on X claim Biden used a private email account to negotiate an oil and gas deal tied to Burisma, where Hunter served on the board from 2014 to 2019.
White House records confirm Biden issued no self-pardon during his term, a move that would have been unprecedented and constitutionally dubious. He did, however, grant a sweeping pardon to Hunter on December 1, 2024, covering potential crimes from 2014 to 2024, a period encompassing Hunter’s Burisma tenure. Biden also pardoned family members and select allies in his final days, but no such clemency extended to himself or Clinton.
Trump has made promises of “big things coming.” At a Mar-a-Lago event last week, he quipped, “Hillary’s probably sweating a little—no Joe to bail her out this time.” Whether he will act on MAGA’s demands remains uncertain, as pursuing charges risks alienating moderates while energizing his core base.
For now, the absence of a Clinton pardon keeps the door open for Trump to make good on a nine-year-old rally cry.
