Ohio Deputy Killed in Tragic Hit-and-Run by Father of Teen Slain by Police

This appears to be a revenge killing of a random police officer.

CINCINNATI, OH — A retired Ohio deputy was fatally struck by a vehicle in a deliberate hit-and-run on May 2, 2025, driven by the father of an 18-year-old killed by police the previous day, authorities say.

According to police reports, the deputy, whose identity has not been officially released pending family notification, was hit while on duty. The suspect, identified as the father of a teen who brandished a gun and was fatally shot by officers on May 1, allegedly targeted the deputy in retaliation. The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended, though specific details about the arrest remain limited as the investigation continues.

Rodney Hinton Jr., 38, was arrested and charged with aggravated murder.

The teen’s death stemmed from an encounter where he reportedly pointed a firearm at officers, prompting them to open fire. The father’s grief reportedly culminated in the vehicular attack, which police have characterized as intentional.

Community members and law enforcement officials have expressed condolences for the deputy, described as a dedicated public servant who had recently retired but continued serving in a reserve capacity.

Local authorities are working with state investigators to piece together the timeline of events. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, which employed the deputy, has promised a thorough probe. “We are devastated by this loss,” a spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News.
