TUCSON, Ariz. March 30, 2026 — A 22-year-old Pima County sheriff’s deputy was arrested and terminated from the department after authorities say he kidnapped a female detainee while transporting her to the county jail, using his position to make sexual advances and delay her booking.

Travis Reynolds, a former deputy with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD), was taken into custody by the Tucson Police Department on Thursday, March 26, 2026, and charged with one count of felony kidnapping. He appeared in court the following day, where a judge set his bond at $200,000. His next court date is scheduled for April 6.

According to an interim complaint cited in multiple reports, Reynolds was on duty on March 19th while he was transporting the woman to the Pima County Jail. During the transport, he allegedly commented on her appearance, calling her “hot” and a “M.I.L.F.” Once at the jail, authorities say he reversed his department vehicle near the back wall, exited, and approached the passenger side. He reportedly moved the woman’s handcuffed hands from behind her body to the front, showed her sexually explicit videos, and delayed taking her inside the facility.

The victim told investigators that Reynolds refused to complete the booking process immediately, made offers to “help” with her case in exchange for exposing herself, and suggested they could “go to a hotel.” She alleged he demanded she lift her skirt or top before finally admitting her to the jail. Video surveillance from the facility is said to have corroborated elements of the account.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Reynolds was fired immediately following his arrest. A department spokesperson stated they were notified by Tucson police and took swift action.

The incident has drawn additional attention because it occurred within the same agency currently investigating the high-profile disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie. Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her Tucson home on February 1, 2026, in what authorities believe was a forcible abduction. Blood was reportedly found at the scene. The case remains active with significant public and federal involvement.

There is no indication that Reynolds is connected to the Guthrie investigation. Officials have not suggested any link, and the deputy’s alleged misconduct appears isolated to the March 19 transport incident. However, the overlap in the same sheriff’s office has fueled online speculation amid the ongoing search for Guthrie.

Tucson Police and the Pima County Attorney’s Office are continuing to investigate the kidnapping case. Reynolds remains in custody. This development raises fresh questions about oversight and training within the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, which has faced intense scrutiny in recent months over the Guthrie case. Authorities have urged the public to avoid unfounded theories and to direct any relevant tips through official channels.
