A significant rift has emerged between Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman due to disagreements over the Iran war and US military strategy in the region. The tension peaked when Riyadh refused to allow US forces to use its airspace and bases for Operation Project Freedom, a mission to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz, forcing the Trump administration to abort the operation less than 48 hours after launch.
Key points of contention include:
Strategic Disagreement: While the Crown Prince initially urged aggressive action against Iran, he later pushed for a cease-fire and opposed Project Freedom fearing it would reignite full-scale war and invite Iranian retaliation on Saudi soil.
US Retaliation: In response to Saudi refusal, the White House threatened to withhold critical missile interception systems, though Riyadh eventually relented on airspace access under this pressure.
Military Reassessment: The US is now reportedly considering reducing its military footprint in Saudi Arabia to prioritize allies like Israel and Jordan that were more supportive during the conflict.
Diplomatic Snubs: The strain was highlighted when Crown Prince bin Salman skipped the G7 summit in protest of US war handling, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio omitted Saudi Arabia from a recent Gulf tour.
Despite public assertions from the White House that the relationship remains strong, reports indicate Saudi Arabia is increasingly viewing the US as unreliable and is actively strengthening security ties with China and Pakistan while pursuing independent diplomacy with Tehran.

All four individuals Christine Blasey Ford identified as being present at the 1982 party where she alleges Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her have denied recollection of the event or stated they were never there. Ford named Brett Kavanaugh, Mark Judge, P.J. Smyth, and her friend Leland Ingham Keyser as attendees; however, each provided statements asserting they have no memory of such a gathering.
Mark Judge, whom Ford claimed was in the room during the alleged assault, stated he has "no memory of the alleged incident" and does not recall the party.
P.J. Smyth and Leland Ingham Keyser both issued statements confirming they have no knowledge of the party and do not remember ever being at a gathering with Kavanaugh.
Brett Kavanaugh has categorically denied the allegations and stated he was never at such a party.
While the named witnesses denied the event occurred, Ford testified that the other attendees would not remember the night because "nothing remarkable happened to them that evening." Additionally, a sixth individual, Christina King Miranda, initially claimed on social media to have heard about the incident in school but later recanted that statement and refused to cooperate with the Senate Judiciary Committee's investigation.
