Deadly Shooting at San Diego Mosque Investigated as Hate CrimeSAN DIEGO — Three men, including a heroic security guard, were killed Monday in a shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, the largest mosque in San Diego County. Two teenage suspects, ages 17 and 18, were later found dead from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Authorities are treating the attack as a possible hate crime, citing involved hate rhetoric, though the suspects had made no prior known threats to the mosque. The security guard was praised for his actions in preventing further casualties. A nine-year-old boy who survived the incident described witnessing “bad stuff” to reporters.

The mother of one suspect had contacted police hours earlier, reporting her son, her vehicle, and weapons missing. Police Chief Scott Wahl provided additional details as the investigation continues with the FBI.

Trump Delays Planned Strikes on Iran for Negotiations

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump announced he is postponing a major military strike on Iran that had been scheduled for Tuesday. The decision follows appeals from Middle East allies, particularly Gulf leaders, who urged more time for “serious negotiations.”

In a Truth Social post, Trump stated he informed the U.S. military to hold off, adding he hopes the delay lasts “for a little while, hopefully, maybe forever,” while keeping forces ready. The move comes amid ongoing tensions and a fragile ceasefire in the region.

Ebola Outbreak Declared Public Health Emergency

DR CONGO — The World Health Organization has declared a public health emergency of international concern over a rapidly spreading Ebola outbreak in Ituri Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo, driven by the Bundibugyo virus strain — for which no approved vaccines or therapeutics currently exist.

Health officials report hundreds of suspected cases and over 100 deaths, with concerns the outbreak is spreading faster than anticipated. An American doctor and medical missionary tested positive after exposure while treating patients and has been evacuated. The CDC and international partners are ramping up response efforts.

High-Stakes Primaries Underway Across Multiple States

Voters in states including Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, and Idaho headed to the polls Tuesday for key primary elections ahead of the 2026 midterms. In Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, a closely watched race pits Rep. Thomas Massie against a Trump-backed challenger, with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth campaigning on the trail.

Other notable developments include the Trump administration’s creation of a nearly $1.8 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” as part of a settlement resolving a lawsuit over IRS actions.
