  • 1804: The Napoleonic Code, a civil law code, was established in France under Napoleon I. It influenced legal systems worldwide and remains the basis of civil law in many countries today.

  • 1871: Otto von Bismarck was appointed the first Chancellor of the German Empire after the unification of Germany, marking a key moment in European history.

  • 1925: The Butler Act was signed into law in Tennessee, USA, prohibiting the teaching of human evolution in public schools. This led to the famous Scopes "Monkey" Trial later that year.
