As of tonight, January 3, 2025, snow is actively falling in several regions across the United States:
Great Lakes and Northeast: Cold, windy conditions are contributing to lake-effect snow in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. There are also snow showers along the I-95 corridor, which are causing travel disruptions.
New York and Pennsylvania: A persistent lake effect band is currently over New York, expected to last for the next 70 hours. Additionally, there are intense snow squall warnings in Pennsylvania with some areas experiencing zero visibility.
Ohio: Specifically around Akron and Youngstown, very heavy bands of snow are moving through, accompanied by limited visibility and gusty winds.
Maryland: Flurries are noted in the Baltimore metro area, but more significant snowfall is occurring in southern Maryland with reports of thundersnow. Snow is also present in Montgomery County.
Northwest: A Pacific storm is delivering rain at lower elevations and mountain snow in the northwestern U.S.
