Mass Stabbing in Downtown Salem Leaves At Least 11 Hospitalized


SALEM, Ore. — A violent mass stabbing incident rocked downtown Salem on June 1, 2025, leaving at least 11 people injured and prompting a swift response from local law enforcement and emergency services. The attack, which occurred outside a homeless shelter on Commercial Street NE, has left the community in shock as authorities work to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the event.


According to Salem Police Department spokeswoman Angela Hedrick, officers responded to reports of multiple stabbings at approximately 7:16 p.m. PDT. Upon arrival, they discovered several victims with varying degrees of injuries. Emergency medical personnel quickly transported at least 11 individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment. The condition of the victims has not been fully disclosed, but authorities have confirmed that all are receiving medical care.


A suspect was apprehended at the scene, and video footage circulating online appears to show the individual being taken into custody by Salem police.
