Manhunt underway after Deputy shot in Indiana

The latest update on the manhunt for Austin Schepers in Indiana, following the shooting of an Orange County Sheriff's Deputy, indicates that the search is ongoing. Schepers, 33, is wanted for allegedly shooting the deputy during a traffic stop near West Baden, at the intersection of US-150 and Indiana State Road 56. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on January 3, 2025.


  • Location: The search has been focused around Orangeville, particularly after Schepers' car was found in the area. However, there were indications that he might be holed up in a home near downtown New Albany, though this could not be confirmed or denied by the police at the time of the last update.

  • Status: Schepers remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. The Indiana State Police have issued a Statewide Blue Alert for him.

  • Deputy's Condition: The wounded deputy, identified as Zach Andry, was taken to UofL Health Hospital in downtown Louisville. An official fund has been set up to support Andry and his family at Springs Valley Bank and Trust in French Lick.

  • Community Response: There are calls on social media for the public to assist in the manhunt by providing information while being cautioned not to approach Schepers.
