The latest updates on the manhunt for Virgil Thew, a 47-year-old from New Lisbon, Wisconsin, indicate that he is a person of interest following the discovery of three deceased individuals, including two juveniles and one adult, in a home on West Bridge Street in New Lisbon on December 30, 2024. Thew was last seen at a Dollar General store in New Lisbon on December 29, 2024, wearing a dark-colored down coat and hat. He is described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing approximately 150 pounds.
Thew is considered armed and dangerous, and he is currently wanted through Wisconsin Probation and Parole. Authorities have issued a statewide crime alert, and there have been confirmed sightings of Thew in the New Lisbon area, though he is believed to possibly be outside of this area by now. The public has been advised not to approach Thew if seen but to contact 911 immediately. He has been charged with three counts of first-degree intentional homicide in connection with these deaths.
The investigation began after two missing juveniles were reported; one from Monroe County was last seen with Thew, and a second child was reported missing from New Lisbon. It remains unclear if the juveniles found dead in the home were the ones reported missing.
