Man Shot and Stabbed in Peoria’s Vistancia Neighborhood; Victim Dies, Suspect Located with Self-Inflicted Wound
Peoria police are investigating a violent early-morning attack in which one man was shot and stabbed outside a home in the Vistancia community. The victim later died from his injuries, while the suspect was tracked to the Payson area and found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The incident unfolded around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026, in a residential neighborhood near 124th Drive and Hummingbird Terrace (also referenced near 123rd Avenue and Hummingbird Terrace), close to Vistancia Boulevard and Ridgeline Road in north Peoria, Arizona.According to witness accounts and police reports:
Two men were heard arguing.
Shots were fired.
The suspect stood over the male victim and assaulted him with a sharp instrument (stabbing).
The suspect then got into a vehicle — described as a Chevrolet Malibu — drove past the victim, stopped, exited the vehicle, and fired additional shots before fleeing the scene.
First responders arrived to find the victim suffering from gunshot and stab wounds. Crews performed chest compressions on scene before transporting him to a hospital, where he later died. His identity has not been released.
The suspect fled before officers arrived but was later located in the Payson area after Peoria police used their Real Time Crime Center to track a vehicle matching the description. The suspect was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound (reported in some accounts as to the head) and was airlifted to a Valley hospital in critical condition. Authorities have not released a physical description of the suspect.Peoria police believe the suspect and victim knew each other, though investigators are still working to confirm the exact nature of their relationship and the motive.
