The latest update on the matter of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi giving a $20,000 diamond to Jill Biden is that this occurred during his state visit to the U.S. in June 2023. The diamond, described as a 7.5-carat, lab-grown, eco-friendly green diamond, was the most expensive gift received by any member of the Biden family from foreign leaders in 2023. This diamond, reflecting the chemical and optical properties of earth-mined diamonds, was retained for official use in the White House East Wing. However, it is set to be turned over to the National Archives after the Bidens leave office. Jill Biden also received other gifts, including a brooch from the Ukrainian ambassador to the U.S. valued at $14,063 and a set of items from Egypt's president and first lady worth $4,510.
