Suspected Antisemitic Attack Targets Hanukkah-Decorated Home in Redlands, California

Redlands, CA — December 15, 2025

Police in Redlands, California, are investigating a drive-by attack on a Jewish family's home as a potential hate crime after assailants fired approximately 20 projectiles at the residence, which was prominently decorated for Hanukkah, while shouting antisemitic slurs.

The incident occurred on the evening of December 12, shortly after members of the Cohen family returned home from dinner. Homeowner Rodgir Cohen and his son encountered three suspects—described as two women and one man—in a four-door sedan outside their residence on Magnolia Avenue. The suspects allegedly shouted slurs before driving away.

Minutes later, the vehicle returned, and the occupants fired multiple rounds toward the house and its outdoor Hanukkah displays, including inflatable decorations and illuminated signs. Doorbell camera footage captured the sounds of the projectiles being discharged, followed by one of the suspects yelling an explicit antisemitic slur, including "F*** the Jews."

No injuries were reported, and the family was inside the home at the time. Police found no shell casings at the scene and no muzzle flash in the video, leading investigators to believe the weapon was likely an airsoft or replica gun that fires plastic pellets. Several projectiles struck the house and deflated some of the inflatable Hanukkah decorations.

Redlands Police Department stated that the family appeared to have been targeted specifically because of the festive Hanukkah decorations. The city has increased patrols around places of worship and Jewish institutions in response. The attack comes amid heightened global concerns over antisemitism during Hanukkah, following a separate deadly shooting at a Hanukkah event in Sydney, Australia, over the same weekend.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) condemned the incident as a "despicable act of antisemitic violence." Family members, including Heftsibah Cohen, expressed shock but resolve, emphasizing Hanukkah's message of bringing light and peace to the world.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. 17GEN4.com
