Rome, Italy – November 24, 2025
Italian police are investigating a brutal sexual assault after a young couple was reportedly surrounded by three men, described by authorities as migrants, who smashed into their parked car and subjected an 18-year-old woman to a prolonged rape while forcing her fiancé to watch.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning in a secluded parking area near Caivano, a town on the outskirts of Naples. According to police reports and local media, the victims – an 18-year-old Italian woman and her 22-year-old fiancé – had pulled over in their Fiat Panda for a moment of privacy when they were approached by the group of assailants.
Witness statements and the victims’ accounts allege that the three men, identified as Egyptian nationals aged 18, 20, and 21, began banging on the car windows and shouting threats. When the couple attempted to drive away, the attackers reportedly used a blunt object to smash the driver-side window, dragging the young man from the vehicle and restraining him.
What followed was described by investigators as a “harrowing and prolonged” sexual assault on the teenage woman inside the car, carried out in full view of her helpless fiancé. Local outlet Il Mattino reported that the victim was raped by all three perpetrators while her partner was beaten and threatened with further violence if he intervened.
The ordeal lasted approximately 40 minutes before the attackers fled the scene on foot. The couple managed to alert emergency services, and the woman was rushed to hospital for treatment and forensic examination. Both victims are said to be in a state of profound shock.
Police arrested the three suspects within hours, thanks to CCTV footage from nearby businesses and descriptions provided by the victims. All three men, who entered Italy irregularly via the Mediterranean route and were residing in a local migrant reception centre, have been charged with gang rape, aggravated assault, and criminal damage. They are currently being held in custody awaiting formal indictment.
The case has reignited fierce debate over Italy’s migration policies and public safety in the Campania region, with right-wing politicians including Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini condemning the attack as “barbarism imported onto our streets.” Local authorities have vowed increased patrols in the area.
