Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Road Rage Shooting in Glendale

GLENDALE, AZ — A tragic road rage incident late Saturday night near 51st Avenue and Camelback Road has left a 27-year-old woman dead and a 33-year-old man in custody, facing second-degree murder and other charges, according to Glendale police.Just after 11:30 p.m. on August 15, 2025, Jesus Preciado Dousten, 33, was driving a white GMC Sierra eastbound on Camelback Road when he became involved in a heated verbal altercation with the driver of a Toyota Tundra. The argument escalated at a red light at the intersection of 51st Avenue, where Dousten, reportedly intoxicated, brandished a black handgun, according to court documents. Witnesses in the Tundra reported Dousten yelling in Spanish, saying, “You want some of this?” before pointing the gun across his chest toward his driver’s side window and firing a single shot in a random direction.

The bullet struck Yarely Ashley Hermosillo, a 27-year-old passenger in a Chevrolet Equinox stopped in the left lane, uninvolved in the dispute. The shot pierced the SUV’s passenger window, striking Hermosillo in the head. Her boyfriend, who was driving, rushed her to a hospital in Maryvale, but she succumbed to her injuries. Hermosillo’s 4-year-old son and her mother were also in the vehicle at the time of the shooting. “She was an innocent bystander in all of this,” said Glendale Police Department Public Information Officer Jose Santiago.

Hermosillo, a popular social media influencer with over 100,000 followers on her food- and recipe-focused TikTok page, was described by her family as a “loving wife, devoted mother, and beautiful soul.” Her family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses and support her husband and young son, raising over $11,000 as of August 20.

Using surveillance footage from multiple cameras, Glendale police identified Dousten’s vehicle and tracked his movements. Traffic footage captured a muzzle flash from the driver’s side of the Sierra, corroborating witness accounts. Detectives obtained a search warrant for Dousten’s phone, which placed him at the scene during the incident. On Saturday night, police searched a Phoenix home near 47th Avenue and Campbell, recovering two handguns, one believed to be the murder weapon left at a friend’s apartment. Dousten was arrested at his Glendale apartment near 43rd and Glendale avenues on August 16 and is being held on a $1 million bond.

Court documents reveal Dousten has an “extensive” criminal history, including convictions for attempted theft, unlawful flight from law enforcement, and resisting arrest between 2016 and 2024. He also allegedly admitted to a friend that he fired the gun during the road rage incident, claiming he shot someone. Dousten faces charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons, and endangerment.

Glendale Police Sgt. Bryan Hoskin emphasized the recklessness of the act, stating, “You can’t just fire rounds randomly throughout, specifically in a highly populated city.” The motive for Dousten’s decision to fire remains unclear, with police noting no criminal activity beyond the verbal exchange between the two drivers.

The Glendale Police Homicide Unit was praised for their swift investigation, leading to Dousten’s arrest within 24 hours. “These detectives demonstrated their commitment by clearing this case with a successful arrest,” Hoskin said. The case has sparked renewed discussions about road rage and responsible gun ownership in the community.

Hermosillo’s family and fans continue to mourn her loss, with tributes pouring in on social media. Her GoFundMe page reads, “Yarely’s greatest joy in life was being a mother, and she poured her heart into caring for her little boy.” The investigation remains ongoing as Dousten awaits trial.
