SUNRISE, FL — A tragic and violent incident unfolded early Wednesday morning, May 28, 2025, when 27-year-old Hailey Hosford, a beloved Florida hairstylist, was fatally stabbed in the parking garage of the upscale Retreat at Sawgrass Village apartment complex in Sunrise, Florida. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jackson Julian Sagesse, a 280-pound assailant, was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder following the brutal attack, authorities confirmed.
According to police reports, Hosford had just stepped out of a rented black Mercedes around 1:30 a.m. when Sagesse allegedly charged toward the vehicle, ripped open the door, and launched a vicious assault with a steak knife. Hosford attempted to shield herself by climbing back into the rear passenger seat, but Sagesse pursued her, making repeated stabbing motions, as captured on security footage, per an arrest affidavit obtained by The New York Post. A male friend accompanying Hosford returned to the scene and confronted the attacker, only to be stabbed in the throat during a violent altercation, though he survived the encounter.
In a chilling statement to police after being read his Miranda rights, Sagesse reportedly boasted, “I just killed someone and walked away,” according to the affidavit cited by The New York Post. The suspect was apprehended and booked into Broward County Jail, where he remains without bond, facing charges of premeditated murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Hailey Hosford, described as a glamorous and talented hairstylist, was a rising star in Florida’s beauty industry, known for her skill and vibrant personality. The attack, described by authorities as seemingly random, has left the Sunrise community in shock. The motive remains under investigation, with police noting no prior connection between the victim and the assailant.
