Los Angeles, CA – June 8, 2025 – Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino issued a public appeal on Saturday for assistance in identifying individuals involved in violent protests targeting federal vehicles during immigration raids in Los Angeles. The incidents, which occurred in the city of Paramount, involved protesters hurling rocks at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal law enforcement vehicles, prompting a swift response from the FBI.

“We are currently seeking information regarding the identity of the person(s) throwing rocks at vehicles conducting critical law enforcement operations,” Bongino stated in a post on X, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to holding those responsible accountable. Video evidence from the scene shows several individuals throwing rocks at close range, with one suspect notably wearing a distinctive yellow motorcycle-type helmet.

Bongino underscored the FBI’s determination to track down the perpetrators, warning, “One of the perpetrators in this video is wearing a helmet, and we’re going to use our investigative tools to locate the individual. I strongly suggest you turn yourself in, it’s only a matter of time.” The statement reflects a broader push by federal authorities to restore order following chaotic protests that erupted in response to ICE operations in the area.

The violence followed a series of immigration raids conducted by ICE on Friday, including one at a Home Depot in Paramount, which drew significant backlash from local activists and protesters. According to reports, over 800 people gathered to oppose the detention of dozens of individuals, including a local trade union president. The protests escalated when a group allegedly broke into the first layer of a federal law enforcement building, spray-painting vehicles with graffiti and throwing large stones, some of which shattered windshields.

Bongino, who assumed the role of Deputy FBI Director in March 2025, also announced that multiple arrests had already been made in connection with Friday’s protests for obstructing federal operations. “You bring chaos, and we’ll bring handcuffs,” he declared, signaling a zero-tolerance stance. “The right to assemble and protest does not include a license to attack law enforcement officers or to impede and obstruct our lawful immigration operations.”

The FBI is collaborating with the U.S. Attorney’s Office to review evidence and ensure perpetrators face justice. Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin condemned the violence, citing a 413% increase in assaults on ICE agents and reports of death threats and doxxing targeting their families. McLaughlin called out elected officials, including Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Gov. Tim Walz, accusing them of fueling attacks on agents through inflammatory rhetoric.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, a Democrat, faced criticism from federal officials after posting a defiant statement on Friday, vowing, “We will not stand for this,” in response to the ICE raids. Her remarks were met with a sharp rebuttal from McLaughlin, who highlighted the threats against ICE agents.

The FBI’s call for public assistance has sparked a wave of discussion on social media, with posts on X amplifying Bongino’s message and urging community members to provide tips. The agency has not disclosed specific details about the suspect beyond the helmet description but is encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

As tensions remain high in Los Angeles, the FBI’s investigation into the rock-throwing incidents marks a critical step in addressing the violence and ensuring the safety of federal agents carrying out their duties. Bongino’s blunt warning underscores the agency’s resolve: “The days of chaos ruling the streets are over. Either obey the law, or go to jail, there’s no third option.”
