FORT WORTH, Texas – A 30-year-old Afghan citizen living in North Texas was taken into federal custody Monday after allegedly posting a chilling video online in which he threatened to construct an explosive device, carry out a suicide attack, and murder Americans, federal authorities announced.

Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, who resides in Fort Worth, was charged by criminal complaint in the Northern District of Texas with one count of transmitting in interstate commerce a threat to injure the person of another, according to the FBI’s Dallas Field Office. The threat came in the form of a video Alokozay allegedly uploaded to TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and Facebook. Alokozay made his initial appearance in federal court Monday afternoon. He is being held pending a detention hearing scheduled for later this week. The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the FBI Dallas Field Office or submit a tip at tips.fbi.gov.
