In a bizarre incident in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, a dog accidentally triggered a loaded shotgun inside a parked truck, sending a pellet into a woman’s arm as she waited at a nearby traffic light.Police say the unusual shooting occurred on Saturday at a convenience store and resulted in a non-life-threatening injury.
What Happened
According to the Scottsbluff Police Department:
A man left his dog inside his parked pickup truck while he went inside the Short Stop convenience store.
He had left a shotgun with a live shell in the chamber inside the vehicle.
While the man was in the store, the dog moved and apparently stepped on or otherwise triggered the firearm, causing it to discharge.
The blast went through the passenger-side door of the truck.
At that moment, a woman was stopped at a traffic light near the store with her arm resting out the window of her vehicle.
One pellet from the shotgun struck her in the upper right arm.
The woman’s injury was not considered life-threatening. A family member took her to Regional West Medical Center for treatment.
Police Response and Investigation
