Bryan Malinowski was fatally shot by a federal agent during a raid at his home on March 19, 2024

Bryan Malinowski was the executive director of the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport/Adams Field in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was fatally shot by a federal agent during a raid at his home on March 19, 2024.

Raid and Shooting

The raid was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) as part of an investigation into Malinowski’s alleged illegal sale of firearms at gun shows. According to reports, Malinowski fired at the agents, striking one of them in the foot, and an agent returned fire, striking Malinowski in the head. Malinowski died two days later in a hospital.

Investigation and Charges

The Arkansas State Police investigated the shooting, and Pulaski County Prosecutor Will Jones reviewed the case. Jones ultimately decided not to file charges against the ATF agent involved in the shooting, citing that the agent was justified in his use of force.

Background

Malinowski was a gun collector and had been under investigation by the ATF for several months prior to the raid. His family has criticized the ATF’s tactics in the raid, calling them “completely unnecessary” and complaining about a lack of details from the agency. An attorney for Malinowski’s family has said that he was unaware he was under investigation for his reselling of firearms at gun shows.

Reactions

The shooting and subsequent investigation have sparked controversy and outrage, with some calling for greater transparency and accountability from the ATF. The incident has also raised questions about the use of force by law enforcement and the handling of investigations into gun-related crimes.
