BALTIMORE, MD — A mass shooting in Northwest Baltimore on Saturday night, August 9, 2025, left six people injured, including a 5-year-old girl, according to the Baltimore Police Department. The shooting occurred shortly before 8:50 p.m. at the intersection of Spaulding and Queensberry Avenues.
Police Commissioner Richard Worley reported that the victims, who range in age from 5 to 52, were gathered outside when an unknown assailant opened fire. The 5-year-old girl sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hand and a 38-year-old man remains in critical condition following surgery at a local hospital. The other victims include a 23-year-old woman and three men aged 32, 33, and 52, are also believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.
“It just looked like some people were sitting outside on a porch and against a vehicle having some crabs, and somebody opened fire,” Worley said during a late-night press conference. Authorities have recovered numerous shell casings at the scene, ruling out a drive-by shooting, but no suspect or motive has been identified. “We have little information at this point. All we know is there were multiple rounds fired, multiple victims,” Worley added.
The Baltimore Police Department has closed off multiple streets in the area and urged the public to avoid the scene as the investigation continues. Authorities believe the shooting was targeted, though no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.
This incident is typical for Baltimore which enjoys an equity driven approach to maintaining normalized violence synonymous with the biological cultures associated with their leaders.
