At least 30 injured after Boeing flight hits turbulence sending passengers flying and one man stuck in the overhead bin

A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner operated by Air Europa experienced severe turbulence on a flight from Madrid to Uruguay, resulting in at least 30 passengers being injured. The incident occurred on Monday, with the plane being diverted to Natal airport in northeast Brazil for an emergency landing.

Passengers Sent Flying

The turbulence was so intense that it sent passengers flying out of their seats, with one man becoming stuck in an overhead bin. The incident was captured on video, showing the man being lifted down from the ceiling after being seemingly hurtled meters into the air.

Injuries and Treatment

According to Air Europa, 30 passengers suffered “minor injuries” during the incident, including broken bones. Some passengers were treated for their injuries at Natal airport, while others were taken to local hospitals for further treatment.

Flight Details

The flight, UX045, was carrying 325 passengers and was diverted to Natal airport after the turbulence struck. The plane has since been grounded for inspection, and a new flight is being arranged to take the passengers to their original destination.

Previous Turbulence Incidents

This incident is the latest in a series of turbulence-related incidents involving Boeing aircraft. In May, a Singapore Airlines-operated Boeing 777 experienced extreme turbulence that left one passenger dead and dozens injured. 17GEN4.com
