Abdullah Ezzeldin Taha Mohamed Hassan, an 18-year-old Egyptian student at George Mason University, was arrested for allegedly planning a mass casualty attack targeting Jews at the Israeli Consulate in New York City.
The FBI arrested Hassan after he detailed his plot to an undercover informant, discussing the use of an explosive device and a rifle.
Hassan is facing federal charges related to the distribution of information about explosives, destructive devices, and weapons of mass destruction with intent to commit a federal crime of violence.
He has also been barred from entering university property, and the university has stated they will take appropriate action regarding student conduct violations as the criminal proceedings progress.
This incident follows a separate event at George Mason University where two students were disciplined for related but distinct activities involving pro-Palestinian activism and weapons.
