Since mid-November, these unidentified aerial phenomena have been reported nightly, with sightings expanding from Morris and Hunterdon counties to include areas along the Jersey Shore, South Jersey, and even beyond into parts of New York and Pennsylvania.

Local law enforcement and the FBI have been actively investigating these occurrences, yet the source and intent behind these drones remain shrouded in mystery. Governor Phil Murphy has been in close coordination with federal and law enforcement partners, emphasizing that there is no known threat to public safety at this time. However, the persistent sightings near critical infrastructure, including military facilities like the Picatinny Arsenal and President-elect Donald Trump's Bedminster golf course, have raised significant concerns among local officials.

Despite assurances, the lack of concrete answers has led to a clamor for transparency. New Jersey Congressman Jeff Van Drew floated a controversial theory, suggesting the drones might be from an Iranian "mothership" off the U.S. East Coast, a claim that was quickly debunked by the Pentagon. Deputy Defense Department Press Secretary Sabrina Singh clarified that there was no evidence to support such assertions, dismissing any notion of foreign adversary involvement.

The drones, described by some as large as small cars and often flying in clusters or fixed-wing formations, have sparked a variety of theories from the public, ranging from military exercises to potential espionage. The FBI has urged residents to report sightings, and a hotline and online tip system have been established to gather information.

Local mayors from more than 20 towns in Morris County have penned a letter to Governor Murphy, demanding a thorough investigation into the drones' origins and purposes. The call for action has been echoed by state lawmakers like Senator Jon Bramnick, who has proposed a limited state of emergency to ground all drones until the situation is clarified.

The phenomenon has not only stirred local communities but has also sparked national conversations about drone regulations, privacy, and security. With no clear answers forthcoming, the mystery of the drones over New Jersey and adjacent states continues, leaving many to speculate on what—or who—might be behind these nightly incursions into American airspace. 17GEN4.com
