As of the latest reports, a multistate outbreak of listeria has been linked to deli meat products purchased from Publix, Aldi, and Walmart. The outbreak has resulted in:

  • 3 deaths

  • 34 people infected across 13 states

The affected products were manufactured by Boar’s Head and were sold under the Boar’s Head and Old Country brands. The products were recalled due to potential contamination with listeria monocytogenes.

Consumers who purchased these products from Publix, Aldi, and Walmart are advised to:

  • Discard any recalled products

  • Clean and sanitize refrigerators to prevent contamination of other foods

  • Monitor for symptoms of listeria infection, including fever, muscle aches, headaches, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions

It is essential to note that listeria infections can be particularly severe for certain populations, including:

  • Pregnant women, who may experience miscarriages, stillbirths, or premature delivery

  • People over 65 years old

  • Children under 5 years old
