PHOENIX — Four young men between the ages of 18 and 20 were hospitalized with serious gunshot wounds early Saturday morning after an argument escalated into a rapid exchange of gunfire in northwest Phoenix, authorities said. One victim, an 18-year-old, is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, while the other three — two 19-year-olds and a 20-year-old — suffered non-life-threatening wounds.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. on June 6 near North 27th Avenue and Bethany Home Road, in front of a business in the Bethany Plaza area close to the Casa Moreno Nightclub parking lot. Department of Public Safety troopers first heard the rapid gunfire and alerted Phoenix Police, who responded along with fire personnel and located the four victims on scene. All were transported to area hospitals.

Phoenix Police confirmed witnesses reported the injured men had been involved in an argument that turned violent. Detectives are still working to determine the exact sequence of events and whether any of the victims may have been bystanders caught in the crossfire. The extent of each person’s involvement remains under active investigation.

Investigation and Road Closures

Phoenix Police shut down 27th Avenue between Bethany Home Road and Rose Lane for several hours Saturday morning while officers processed the large crime scene. The roadway has since reopened, but heavy police presence was noted in the plaza and nightclub parking areas during the initial response.

No suspect descriptions, vehicle information, or arrests have been released as of Sunday evening, June 7. Police have not indicated whether the shooting was targeted or involved multiple shooters. The investigation is ongoing, with detectives reviewing any available surveillance footage from the busy commercial area and interviewing witnesses.
